Becoming a trained chef

When I was about 18, obsessed with “essen & trinken” magazine, and cooking menus for my family every Sunday, my mom asked me whether I would ever want to do this for a living. I said I probably wouldn’t, but I would like to be able to put “trained chef” on my resume one day.

Five years later, my aunt (shout out to Connie!) asked me the same question, albeit much more suggestively. That same year, I started apprenticing at Hotel Adlon.
